Lambeth council providing “good service” to local community

Lambeth council has been rated as providing "good" community safety services by the Audit Commission, a new report shows.

In a study conducted by the commission, those working for the public sector body were given two stars for its work in reducing levels of crime and engaging well with local residents. (more…)

Kent council’s Supporting People programme praised

Kent county council’s Supporting People initiative has been praised by the Audit Commission, it has been revealed.

In a report conducted by the commission and various network partners, those working for the public sector body were awarded two stars as they were given a “good” rating. (more…)

Birmingham social enterprise ‘helping to change lives for the better’

Residents in the West Midlands could be on track to receive a skills and employment boost, after a social enterprise in the region received an investment from the government.

Birmingham-based Nechells Regeneration Project has received some £870,000 from Futurebuilders England to construct an ICT suite and a heritage workshop at its Grade II-listed Nechells Baths resource centre. (more…)

Leicester council ‘improving services to individuals’

Leicester city council’s Supporting People programme has been given one star in a new report.

According to a study by the Audit Commission, along with inspectors from HM Inspectorate of Probation and Commission for Social Care Inspection, the local authority is doing a "fair" job in terms of providing services to vulnerable people, news which may be of interest to those seeking social work jobs. Health and social care sector to benefit from skills funding boost

Those working in the health and social care sector are to benefit from a multimillion pound skills and jobs investment, it has been revealed.

Following a £151 million cash injection by the European Social Fund (ESF), industries across the south-east of England will receive a boost in helping some of the most vulnerable people in society get work or enter education over the next seven years. (more…)
