Civitas charity report ‘unworkable’, says ACEVO
The Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations (ACEVO) has branded the recommendations of a recent report into the third sector as “unworkable”.

Cameron pledges more homelessness charity funding
Conservative leader David Cameron has pledged to provide volunteer charities that help the homeless with more funding, should he become prime minister.
Having tested an innovative new “sleep pod” during a visit to the Brighton & Hove homelessness charity Lorica St Patrick’s, the Tory head promised to deliver more financial aid to charitable organisations that worked to keep people off the streets. (more…)
Voluntary sector governance enquiry launched
The Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations (acevo) has launched a major enquiry into third sector governance.
Led by Rodney Brooke CBE, chair of the General Social Care Council, the enquiry will assess the views of chief executives in the charitable sector in an attempt to raise board performance levels and instil greater accountability. (more…)
Social enterprises flourishing in Scotland
Communities Scotland has published two guides highlighting how social enterprises are boosting local services while strengthening the country’s economy.
Released as part of the Futurebuilders Scotland programme, the publications expound the notable and multifarious benefits of investing in the social economy, which is worth more than £1 billion north of the border. (more…)
Charity regulation board formed
A self-regulatory body, hoping to become “the Corgi of the charity world”, was launched in the UK today (Monday, February 12).
The Fundraising Standards Board is designed to breed more confidence in the integrity of altruistic organisations, by monitoring complaints about charity fundraising. (more…)
