Newly established charities to receive startup guidance
A new website is to be launched aimed at those operating within the third sector, it has been revealed.
The Centre for Charity Effectiveness, which is part of the Cass Business School at City University in London, will provide guidance to people who are establishing new community groups or voluntary organisations.
Third sector workers ‘need to make use of social media’
It is important for those working for charities to make use of social media websites, it has been reported.
At a panel discussion hosted by digital agency Enable Interactive, it was revealed that sites such as YouTube, MySpace, Bebo and Facebook are being increasingly used by third sector bodies, Mad.co.uk reports.
New support agency created for south London charities
Those operating for charities and voluntary groups in Southwark could be on track to receive improved levels of support and guidance, it has been revealed.
With responsibility for around 2,000 voluntary and community organisations operating across the London borough, Southwark Community Care Forum and Southwark Action for Voluntary Organisations have merged to create a support agency for such third sector bodies.
New website aims to help south-west charities
The Charities Information Bureau (CIB) is launching a new website to assist those working for charities in the south-west of England, it has been revealed.
Users will be able to access a database of 1,500 fundraising opportunities and use fact sheets to apply for funding.
Olympic volunteers ‘need support’
More needs to be done to support those working as volunteers in London, it has been reported.
According to Volunteering England, the government should establish more centres - and offer greater amounts of funding to such initiatives - in order to ensure a diverse range of people are working in the voluntary sector for the 2012 Olympics.
