Third sector ‘provides services other sectors cannot’

The Welsh Assembly Government has commended the work of those operating for charities and voluntary groups, it has been revealed.

Speaking at an event highlighting the work of the third sector earlier this week, Dr Brian Gibbons, social justice minister, praised the work of the Community Foundation in Wales - an independent charity which distributes grants to other community groups and voluntary organisations throughout the region.

New initiative looks to link third sector workers

A new initiative has been launched in South Yorkshire that will aim to establish better links between those working in the third sector in the area, it has emerged.

Various groups that operate within the local community should be able to collaborate more easily as result of what has been dubbed the Amazing People scheme.

New fundraising guidance launched

A new National Occupational Standards document has been released for those working in the third sector, it has been revealed.

Released by the UK Workforce Hub, the guide offers new advice on corporate fundraising, major gifts and direct marketing for fundraisers.

Scottish charities to receive management advice

Numerous charities operating in Scotland are set to receive management support, it has been revealed.

Those working for charitable and voluntary organisations north of the border will be on track to gain free advice on areas such as human resources, marketing, trading activities and IT from the Cranfield Trust.

Voluntary groups invited to apply for health awards

People working for voluntary groups across London have been invited to take part in a new awards scheme, it has been revealed.

Set up to highlight the work of voluntary and charity institutions working with disadvantaged sections of society, the London Health Commission Awards is looking to recognise such organisations’ contributions to public health and wellbeing.
