CAA ”to get a friendly face”

Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA) is to offer an easily-accessible public face when its first assessment results are launched later in the year, it has been revealed.

The service, which assesses local services offered by those with jobs in the public sector to help residents hold them to account, will have a new website designed to help local people determine how well they are being served by their regional environment. It will also go under a new name - oneplace.

As part of a drive to make oneplace easily accessible to individuals across the country, the inspectorates behind the service have teamed up with Directgov to make it available through the Directgov site.

Chief executive of the Audit Commission - one of the public sector organisations behind the scheme - Steve Bundred said the value that CAA can bring to individuals will increase depending on how many people it reaches.

"Our aim is for oneplace to become the first-choice site for anyone seeking independent information on what is - and isn”t - being achieved by local public services in their part of England," he said.

The CAA has replaced the comprehensive performance assessment system. The first results through the new scheme are expected in December this year.
