Compact ”complements third sector standards”
The Compact agreement tends to compliment the quality standards already in place within the third sector, it has been reported.
In news that could interest those with jobs in the third sector, a study carried out by the Institute for Voluntary Action Research reveals significant similarities between the Compact’’s principles and sector standards - including Investors in People Standard and Hallmarks of an Effective Charity - in areas such as management, fundraising and partnerships.
"This research shows that the Compact complements many of the quality standards in use by third sector organisations," states Sir Bert Massie, commissioner of the Compact.
He adds that the Compact has "always been a useful tool" in helping charities to boost the quality of their organisations and that charities should not view the agreement as something extra they have to comply with but rather something that complements the work they are already doing.
Such comments follow the publication of guidance by the Compact earlier this year, advising local authority commissioners on improving relationships with those working in the third sector.
