Pointing towards the "good services" offered by the council, senior manager at the Audit Commission Edwina Child claims the authority "has clear, shared priorities which ensure that it makes progress in getting results for local people".
Meanwhile, the commission highlighted the authority’’s work in providing services based on the needs of its residents, offering affordable housing and ensuring it gives value for money on services.

In an inspection by the organisation, Broxtowe borough council was praised for offering an improved level of housing services.
As well as the majority of council tenants in the borough having a good standard of housing, the local authority was also commended for residents” satisfaction with repairs.
Steve Barnett, senior manager for the Audit Commission, states that the council "is clear about what it wants to achieve over the coming years. It is planning to do the right things because it has a thorough understanding of the borough and of residents” needs and views".

A council operating in Oxfordshire has increased its comprehensive performance assessment (CPA) rating.

Those working for the Kent-based local authority are benefitting from strong talent management, a report by the Audit Commission states, as the council’’s comprehensive performance assessment has been raised to "excellent".
"People management is strong throughout the council, which means that staff are well-motivated, [they] work hard to deliver high quality services and are committed to continuous improvement," Claire Bryce-Smith, senior manager for the Audit Commission, states.
In the report, the council was also praised for working well alongside network partners, having good financial management practices in place and providing easily-accessible services.
Furthermore, the local authority’’s priorities are based upon having a good understanding of their residents” needs - in particular for those that are from minority communities.
Last June, Gravesham borough council was praised by the commission for its work in ensuring community safety in a report which saw it deemed to be offering a "good" level of service, in addition to "promising prospects" for achieving future improvements.
