New NI training provision launched

Posted in Planning on the September 3rd, 2008

The formal launch of the new ApprenticeshipsNI and Training for Success provisions have been announced.

Employment and learning minister Sir Reg Empey made the statements about the new provisions, eGov Monitor reported.

The new schemes, created by the Department for Employment and Learning, mean that anyone aged over 16 can enroll on an apprenticeship programme.

Sir Reg urged employers to consider apprenticeships.

He said that ApprenticeshipsNI would help managers develop workforce skills while Training for Success would enable young people to get the skills they need for employment.

The announcement was made yesterday (September 2nd) while Sir Reg was visiting heavy industrial company Harland & Wolff’’s.

In news that might interest those working in recruitment management solutions or a skills portal, Sir Reg was also reported to have been pleased that 12,200 people have completed an Essential Skills qualification in the last year.

He said that gaining such qualifications meant that many individuals were experiencing a better quality of life from improved employment opportunities.
