New course provided for charity sector applicants

Posted in Charity on the August 29th, 2008

Those looking to work in the charity sector are being invited to take part in a new training course, it has been revealed.

Run by the National Council of Voluntary Organisations” (NCVO) Working For A Charity project, the Effective Voluntary Sector Management scheme aims to increase knowledge of the third sector for those seeking paid employment in the industry.

Operated online, the course covers areas such as marketing, financial management and fundraising.

Elaine Smethurst of Working For A Charity said: "This innovative course will give a head start to workers who are looking for a charity role.

"It will help new entrants understand the challenges and management issues they are likely to face."

Targeted at both people wanting to make a career move into the charity sector and those volunteers seeking paid work within the third sector, such news of the NCVO scheme could be of interest to those seeking jobs via a regional recruitment portal.

Earlier this summer Pareto Fundraising reported that people working for charities in Britain should share their skills framework with their peers in central Europe.
