Charities invited to apply for democracy fund

Posted in Charity/Voluntary on the August 6th, 2008

Those working in the third sector are being invited to apply for a new financial assistance scheme, it has been revealed.

Provided by the Ministry of Justice, the Innovation Fund is to offer a total of £150,000 to charities and community groups which encourage members of the public to get involved in the democratic process.

It was reported up to ten individual projects will receive funding for their proposals whether it involves face-to-face events, the internet or a combination of approaches.

Such news might be of interest to those seeking work in the public sector via a regional recruitment portal.

Michael Wills, democracy minister, said: "Active participation is essential for a healthy and vigorous democracy.

"Through the Innovation Fund we are looking for new and interesting ways to get people engaged in the political life of their community."

In other financial news, it was recently revealed that PKF is to offer charities guidance on VAT and Gift Aid in London this September.
