UK charities ’should share skills with European peers’
Those working for charities in Britain should share their skills framework and experiences with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) across Europe, it has been claimed.
In research commissioned by Pareto Fundraising and carried out by the Alliance of Fundraising in central Europe, it was revealed that third sector bodes in Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic encounter difficulties with generating revenue and setting up donor databases.
The study also indicated the top 20 charities in each of these countries generate most of their income from memberships and fees, with less than a fifth coming from one-off donations.
Now Resource Alliance is calling for UK overseas aid charities to share their skills.
Simon Collings, chief executive of the firm, said: "The international NGOs have skills and market leadership.
"I think they have a responsibility to share knowledge and experience to help the others develop."
Earlier this month nfpSynergy claimed that charities and local councils should work together more often on the provision of public services.
