Tower Hamlets ‘performing strongly’

Posted in General on the July 29th, 2008

The services provided by Tower Hamlets council have been praised by the Audit Commission, it has been revealed.

In its report, the organisation deemed that those working for the public sector body have a good understanding of the needs of its residents and are providing "some excellent services".

Other areas it was praised in included health and social care, large-scale regeneration plans and helping to create jobs.

Consequently, the council was given a rating of four stars - the highest rating possible.

Kash Pandya, senior manager for the Audit Commission, said: "There’s a lot to admire about Tower Hamlets."

It was reported that, despite the local authority’s position as one of the fastest improving councils in Britain, "they are always looking for ways to do an even better job for the local community, in particular on recycling and housing".

Such news might be of interest to those looking for work in the public sector via a regional recruitment portal.

In other news, the commission recently claimed that Surrey county council is working well with network partners within the Surrey Strategic Partnership.
