Bournemouth Borough Council praised in Audit Commission report
The environmental services provided by those working for a public sector body on the south coast of England have been praised in a new report, it has emerged.
In a study by the Audit Commission, Bournemouth borough council was given two stars out of a possible three for its work in providing a high-quality environment for both residents and visitors to the town.
As such, the commission gave the council a “good” rating and stated that it had “promising prospects” for achieving future improvements.
Sophie Trim, senior manager for the Audit Commission, said: “Local people are amongst the most content in the country with their area as a place to live.
“The council makes a significant contribution to this and is good at responding to local needs.”
Areas the authority was praised for include engaging with residents and providing quality environmental services on the sea front. It was also praised for its work with network partners in trailing initiatives such as solar-powered recycling bins.
In other news, the Audit Commission claimed that London’s Wandsworth council is offering a “good” level of service regarding its Supporting People programme.
