Mid Suffolk council receives Audit Commission praise

Those working for a public sector body in the east of England have been praised for the housing services which they provide, it has emerged.

In a report by the Audit Commission, Mid Suffolk district council was deemed to be performing well and as such was given a two-star rating, with "promising" prospects for future improvements.

Among the areas the local council were praised for include ensuring cases of homelessness were kept low and making the provision of decent and affordable housing as a main objective.

In addition, the temporary accommodation which the council owns was said to be of a good quality.

Mark Elsworth, lead housing inspector for the east of England, said: "The council has given housing a high priority and is meeting the needs of the local community by working with partners to provide good quality affordable housing."

In other news, South Tyneside Homes was recently deemed by the Audit Commission to be offering "good" housing management services, with the housing organisation particularly praised for engaging with tenants and an effective property repairs programme.
