Those working for a public sector body in the north of England have been praised in a new Audit Commission report, it has emerged.

According to the commission, the housing management services being provided by South Tyneside Homes are "good", with "promising prospects for improvement".

This has seen the public sector institution receive a two-star rating.

In particular, the housing organisation was praised for engaging with tenants, providing an effective repairs programme and ensuring customers are able to access services.

Satisfaction with the overall service provided by landlords was also deemed to be high.

Domini Gunn-Peim, lead housing inspector for the Audit Commission in the north-east, said: "South Tyneside Homes has focused on improving services for its customers and has acted on recommendations from previous inspections."

Such news may be of interest to those seeking housing jobs within the public sector via a regional recruitment portal.
