Social enterprises ‘can add value’
Those working for social enterprises can play a useful role in the development of the local community.
So claims Sabina Khan, director of research at Social Enterprise London (SEL), who reports that operating with local authorities, such third sector groups may be able to bring numerous benefits to an area.
Ms Khan said: "We know that social enterprises that deliver services add value by bringing about social and environmental outcomes."
She went on to report that the institution is looking to "facilitate new opportunities" for social enterprises to form links as network partners with councils.
Her comments come ahead of the LA Connecting London conference, due to be held in the capital next month.
Hosted by SEL, the meeting will see local authorities be advised on the advantages that working with such enterprises can bring.
Earlier this month, SEL unveiled a new advisory initiative aimed at helping social enterprises gain contracts to provide health and social care services.
