Brighton charity receives community grant

Posted in Charity/Voluntary on the May 28th, 2008

An umbrella charity in Brighton has received a grant to help improve the services it offers to those working for other voluntary and community groups within the area, it has been revealed.

The Resource Centre has benefited from £4,190 in funds from the Argus Appeal.

Based in Tilbury Place, the charity offers advice and services to institutions such as playgroups, community art groups and environmental campaigns, in areas including fundraising and insurance.

The money received by the centre will go towards purchasing new play equipment which can be hired by such institutions.

Judy Goss, who works for the Resource Centre, said: "It’s been hard work getting the new equipment ready for the summer season, but it’s definitely worth it, as the new games are being snapped up by groups for their fetes and fairs."

As a result of the fund it may be possible that community groups in the area may well be able to manage sustainable efficiencies with greater effectiveness.

Last month, it was revealed that a new initiative was launched in South Yorkshire which aims to forge links between third sector organisations operating within the region.

More about sustainable efficiencies.
