South Somerset district council “making progress”
A new Audit Commission report has praised the work of a council operating in the south-west of England, it has been revealed.
In its comprehensive performance assessment, those working for South Somerset district council were rated by the commission as offering a "good" service.
The local authority was highlighted for its strong operations with network partners through its "enable-partner-deliver" approach.
Meanwhile, it was revealed that the council is providing cost-effective services, with overall crime down by 11 per cent.
Robert Hathaway, senior manager for the Audit Commission, said: "South Somerset district council is making good progress in improving the lives of those living, working and visiting the area."
In addition, the public sector body was praised for improving the "economic vitality" of its towns and rural communities and having "well-managed staff".
Earlier this month, the Housing Corporation gave Salford-based Contour Housing Group full marks for its management, governance, development and financial viability.
