Staff ‘are essential to local council successes’
The work of those with jobs at public sector bodies have been commended by a member of parliament, it has been revealed.
Speaking last week John Healey, local government minister, reported that people working for local authorities play a vital role in the development of communities.
He said: "Staff are essential to the success of councils and wellbeing of local communities."
Such news might be of interest to people seeking jobs in the public sector through a regional recruitment portal.
Mr Healey’s comments come after it was revealed that those public sector employees which are set to work for the new unitary councils to be created across England are to be protected under Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations (TUPE).
He added that it is important that those working for local authorities are kept informed of any changes and are given as much support as possible, PersonnelToday reports.
The new councils will be created in Bedfordshire, Durham, Wiltshire, Cheshire, Cornwall, Shropshire and Northumberland reducing the number of authorities from 35 to nine.
In other news, Leeds city council was recently praised by the Audit Commission for providing an improved service during the last four years and providing social care for vulnerable parts of the community.
