North Tyneside council ‘effective with regeneration moves’
North Tyneside council has been commended in a recent report by the Audit Commission, it has been revealed.
According to the commission, those working for the public sector body were praised for their work in improving neighbourhoods throughout the boroughs via numerous regeneration projects.
In addition, it was stated that council services have become more accessible, with the range of affordable housing improving.
Overall, the council was given two stars out a possible three and was listed as having "promising" prospects for future improvement.
Furthermore, the council was praised for its operations with network partners in reducing levels of crime and unemployment.
David Jennings, senior manager for the Audit Commission, said: "North Tyneside council has identified the regeneration of neighbourhoods in the borough as one of its main priorities and is investing and working effectively with others to deliver projects which contribute to social, economic and environmental regeneration."
Earlier this month, Southend borough council was praised by the Audit Commission for providing "excellent" housing benefits and cultural services.
