Southend council providing ‘improving housing service’
Southend borough council has received praise from the Audit Commission, it has been revealed.
In the commission’s latest corporate assessment report, those working for the public sector body were commended for making improvements to its housing services, in addition to providing "excellent" cultural, leisure and housing benefits services.
Furthermore, the local authority was highlighted as having an awareness of the town’s needs and what areas should be prioritised.

The council was also praised for its work with network partners in tackling key goals for the town such as improving recycling rates and community safety.
Meanwhile, it was stated that the public sector institution has a "robust programme" in place for the development of staff and management to help them deal with challenges in the future.
Last month, the commission praised Luton borough council for providing a good service to its residents, particularly for those in disadvantaged and vulnerable parts of society.
