Posted in General on the April 23rd, 2008

The Audit Commission’s corporate assessment team has praised Oxfordshire county council, it has been revealed.

In its report, the commission deemed that those working for the public sector body are "performing well" and are offering improved services for its residents in most areas.

Furthermore, the council was praised for its operations with network partners in responding to the floods which struck the area in 2007.

Tackling climate change, delivering regeneration work and offering value for money were among the other things in which the public sector institution was praised for.

Robert Hathaway, senior manager in Oxfordshire for the Audit Commission, said: "The council can demonstrate improvement in most services, achieving good outcomes for local people.

"It has a clear understanding of the issues facing Oxfordshire and provides strong and effective leadership to the community it serves."

Such news might interest people seeking jobs in the public sector.

Earlier this week, the commission commended Stockton-on-Tees council for offering a cost-effective service.
