Young people ‘feel they can relate to charities’

Posted in Charity/Voluntary on the March 27th, 2008

Young Britons feel that they can relate to those working for charities, new research shows.

A study carried out by nfpSynergy, as part of its Charity Awareness Monitor, reveals that just under half (47 per cent) of 16 to 24-year-olds state that they trust such organisations.

Meanwhile, consumers living in the north-west of the country were indicated as having the most faith throughout Britain in third sector bodies.

Commenting on the findings, Joe Saxton, co-founder of nfpSynergy, said: "The younger age group sees charities as a strong, belief-driven part of the world, which they can relate to."

Research by the thinktank also indicated that there is a requirement for a cohesive communications strategy across the third sector.

The news may be of interest to those charities and voluntary organisations who are looking to maintain sustainable efficiencies.

An earlier piece of research by nfpSynergy revealed that charities which are financially independent and high levels of voluntary income are most likely to impress members of parliament.

More about sustainable efficiencies.
