South Cambs Council achieves big gains
Corporate governance arrangements have been significantly improved by South Cambridgeshire District Council over the last year the independent Audit Commission has revealed in its latest report.
The council has improved in a variety of areas including its leadership in addressing local issues and its ability to communicate with the public.
Nigel Smith, the Audit Commission senior manager, commented: "South Cambridgeshire District Council has responded positively to the 2007 corporate governance inspection report. Communication is better and both internal and external relationships have improved."
Mr Smith also urged the council to continue with the positive momentum in order to ensure "sustained improvement in service delivery and community leadership".
Councillor Ray Manning, the leader of the council, was content with the report and the progress the council has made since last year and will hope to continue with sustainable efficiencies.
Waterbeach sheltered housing complex in the council’s district is the first in the UK to install green solar panels to ensure residents profit from hot water.
More about sustainable efficiencies.
