Camden supporting people services praised by commission
Camden has been commended for its supporting people programme in an independent report released by the Audit Commission.
The London borough was awarded a two star rating out of three stars for its services, which will soon be extended to give support to people suffering from mental health problems.
Camden and its network partners have been praised for its "talented" supporting people team which has helped the homeless and other residents in the borough with accommodation while still achieving significant savings of over £7 million in is budget.
Adrian Brown, Audit Commission senior manager, commented: "The Council is improving the quality of services for vulnerable people at the same time that it has achieved major budget savings."
The supporting people services strategy includes ensuring every citizen has the chance for rewarding and independent lives. The scheme also hopes to guarantee good quality housing is widely available. It provides a range of services to over 7,000 people.
