Audit Commission praises Westminster council

Posted in General on the March 13th, 2008

Westminster city council’s Supporting People initiative has been praised in a new report by the Audit Commission, it has been revealed.

Those working for the public sector body were given three stars - the highest score possible - for offering a wide variety of services to vulnerable people.

Hugh Boatswain, lead housing inspector for the commission in London, commended the local authority for its operations alongside network partners.

He said: "Our inspection of the programme identified many strengths and few weaknesses.

"The Supporting People programme in Westminster forms part of an integrated range of services which has resulted from very strong partnership working."

In addition, the council was praised for its work in maintaining efficiencies and making sure that access and referral arrangements are "comprehensive".

Such news could be of interest to those seeking jobs in the public sector.

Last August the council was praised by the Audit Commission in its comprehensive performance assessment for its work in improving the quality of life for its residents.
