Liverpool council praised by Audit Commission
Positive achievements between Liverpool city council and its network partners have been highlighted in a new report published by the Audit Commission.
The local authority’s strong record of cooperation has helped to deliver refurbished homes, reductions in crime and disorder, improved life expectancy and action to help improve the health of children and young adults, the report stated.
But although the quality of life for the people of Liverpool is visually improving, clearer long-term ambition and better management of the council’s financial resources is recommended for the future.
"Liverpool city council has a good record of achievement, including an extensive range of city wide and community regeneration," said Tim Watkinson, commission senior manager.
Developing a clearer set of strategies for the future and reducing the number of priorities are additional recommendations for the council provided by Mr Watkinson and the Audit Commission.
Meanwhile, commission senior manager Stephen Barnett recently praised Derby city council’s work in using economic growth to improve the quality of life for the region’s deprived neighbourhoods and communities.
