South Norfolk council offers better service, says Audit Commission

Posted in General on the February 15th, 2008

The Audit Commission has deemed South Norfolk district council to be providing an "excellent" service.

In its comprehensive performance assessment, those working for the public sector institution have now improved upon their previous "good" score.

Strengths the commission was revealed to offer include understanding local residents’ needs and using technology effectively to improve both the quality and efficiency of its services.

Furthermore, the local authority was commended for delivering a high level of service both when working directly for residents or with network partners.

Commenting on the report, Sue Jewkes, senior manager of the commission, stated that South Norfolk council has made improvements across a number of areas since its last assessment.

She said: "There is a strong focus on customers and on service improvement, with the council both listening to and engaging well with residents."

Meanwhile, the commission reported earlier this week that Hyndburn borough council is offering residents an "excellent" service, an improvement from the "fair" ranking it received in 2004.
