British charities ‘offer optimism’
Hearing about the work of British charities allows people to see a more optimistic side to life, it has been claimed.
Achim Kram, co-founder and managing director of optimistworld.com, made his comments to Third Sector Online following the launch of the site.
The website will aim to deliver positive news to British people, while providing much-needed publicity for smaller charities and their network partners surviving on lower incomes.
It will list any charity in Britain, regardless of its size, the site reports.
"We want to show people that there is a more optimistic side to life … I think hearing about the good work UK charities are doing every day is a big part of that," said Mr Kram.
According to the Charity Commission, there are 190,000 organisations registered with it with almost 600,000 paid staff and 900,000 trustees.
It states that such charities have an annual income of £36 billion.
