Planning proposals put forward in Scotland
A number of infrastructure projects have been identified across Scotland as part of the National Planning Framework, it has emerged.
The development proposals, which include implementing facilities and infrastructure to support the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, have been put forward to help drive economic growth in the country and promote improved opportunities.
In addition, a replacement Forth crossing and implementing grid reinforcements to support renewable energy development have also been suggested.
Enhancements to Glasgow and Edinburgh airports have also been proposed.
Such news may interest people seeking planning jobs in the public sector, as well as those looking to use a regional recruitment portal to attract such candidates.
John Swinney, cabinet secretary for finance and sustainable growth, said: "The Government Economic Strategy requires a planning framework that supports sustainable economic growth across Scotland while protecting the quality of the natural and built environment.
"That is why we have identified our strategic priorities for investment in transport, energy and environmental infrastructure in the draft National Planning Framework."
Earlier this week, a draft version of the Scottish Planning Policy 3: Planning for Housing suggested that a more robust planning system needs to be in place if Scotland is witness continued economic growth in the future.
