West Berkshire council ‘making continuous improvements’
West Berkshire council has been commended for continued improvements in the standard of services it delivers to local residents.
A report from the Audit Commission makes clear that the council has worked well with its network partners in recent years and has broadly succeeded in its effort to supply West Berkshire residents with "high quality services".
However, the commission is keen to see the council build on the recently established long-term community action plan and to target service delivery efforts at the most vulnerable sectors of the local population, news that may interest those looking for social work jobs.
Steven Shuttleworth, senior manager for the Audit Commission, commented: "West Berkshire council continues to make significant and continuous improvements, both in the way it works and to services for local people.
"Key successes with partners include maintaining good school attainment for all children, good services for older people, and good levels of health for those living in the area."
Earlier this month, the Audit Commission praised the £6 million Supporting People initiative, which was launched recently by the Blackburn council with the aim of improving public services in the local area.
