Felixstowe receives regeneration investment
A £300,000 investment has been given to a multimillion pound project to rejuvenate Felixstowe town centre.
In news that may interest those seeking planning jobs, the money forms part of £385,000 received by Suffolk Coastal in government grants to boost employment, enterprise and business growth.
Colin Hart, Suffolk Coastal cabinet member, said: "We are going to use over £300,000 of this additional government funding to help kick-start the Felixstowe Futures regeneration programme for the resort’s town centre and seafront."
However, he added that the scheme will only be achieved if network partners from both the public sector and the private get involved.
Although no definite decisions have been made, consultants are currently making plans to give the area a facelift, with potential ideas including a watersports centre, cafes and new homes.
Earlier this year, communities secretary Hazel Blears revealed a new bill aimed at making planning processes quicker and reducing the amount of time it takes for decisions on major projects to be made.
