Dorset council ‘working well’ with partners
Dorset county council is performing well, a new Audit Commission report reveals.
In a corporate assessment study by the commission, those working for the public sector body were praised for its strong work with network partners, such as health authorities and neighbouring councils, through its Dorset Strategic Partnership.
As a result, it was suggested that this has helped to gain recognition about the county’s housing needs and economic prospects and so receive increased funding from the regional development agency and the Housing Corporation.
Rob Hathaway, senior manager for the Audit Commission, said: "It performs particularly well in education and is working with partners to meet the future housing and employment needs of residents in a way that protects the rural environment and quality of life."
In addition, the local authority was reported to be ensuring that staff working for the institution are motivated and encouraged to be creative, news that may be of interest to those seeking work in the public sector.
Earlier this month, it emerged that the commission gave Sheffield city council four stars in its comprehensive performance assessment - the highest rating possible.
