Lambeth council providing “good service” to local community

Posted in Social Work on the December 7th, 2007

Lambeth council has been rated as providing "good" community safety services by the Audit Commission, a new report shows.

In a study conducted by the commission, those working for the public sector body were given two stars for its work in reducing levels of crime and engaging well with local residents.

Additionally, Lambeth council was described as having "promising prospects" for future improvements, news that may be of interest to people seeking social work jobs.

Kash Pandya, senior manager for the Audit Commission, claimed that the public sector body was working effectively alongside its network partners to provider services for its residents.

The manager stated: "The council and its partners are addressing these challenges and delivering a good service to the local community through a range of positive activities such as the X-it programme developing young people and diverting them from crime and anti-social activities."

Earlier this year, Northamptonshire county council was praised by the Office for Standards in Education for providing "innovative" youth services.
