Kent council’s Supporting People programme praised
Kent county council’s Supporting People initiative has been praised by the Audit Commission, it has been revealed.
In a report conducted by the commission and various network partners, those working for the public sector body were awarded two stars as they were given a “good” rating.
According to the body, Kent county council is operating effectively and is working well with its network partners to provide a variety of services to a wide range of groups, news that may be of interest to those seeking social work jobs.
The Audit Commission also reported that a new centralised referral process is helping the local authority to make sure that the individual needs of residents in the county are being met.
Patrick Mooney, head of housing for the commission’s southern region, said: “The programme benefits from effective leadership and strong partnership working.
“Housing-related support services across the county are improving and new services are being developed to meet the needs of traditionally excluded groups.”
In an earlier report, the Audit Commission stated that Leicester city council’s Supporting People programme is doing a “fair” job in providing services to vulnerable members of society.
