Leicester council ‘improving services to individuals’

Posted in Social Work on the November 8th, 2007

Leicester city council’s Supporting People programme has been given one star in a new report.

According to a study by the Audit Commission, along with inspectors from HM Inspectorate of Probation and Commission for Social Care Inspection, the local authority is doing a "fair" job in terms of providing services to vulnerable people, news which may be of interest to those seeking social work jobs.

The council was also praised for the "strong" links it has in place with its network partners to support the delivery of the programme.

Ann Bennett, lead housing inspector for the Audit Commission, claimed that "a number of strengths were identified including some evidence of improvements to individual services and increased choice for service users in the range of services available".

In addition, Leicester city council was commended for its commitment to identifying where savings can be made.

Earlier this month, the Audit Commission reported that Harlow district council is working well with its network partners.
