Homeless charities to merge
Two charities targeting young homeless people are to merge, it has been revealed.
From the start of next year, the Depaul Trust and Nightstop will combine their operations in an attempt to expand the services they provide, reports the Third Sector.
In news which may be of interest to those seeking jobs within the charity sector, the network partners will merge to help homeless young people find accommodation and support those at risk of social exclusion, vandalism and bullying.
Chief executive for Depaul Paul Marriott claimed that the move would help the voluntary organisation come "into direct contact with the army of volunteers who make up the Nightstop schemes around the UK".
Sue Trennery, manager of Nightstop, added: "They [Depaul] are as passionate as we are about tackling youth homelessness.
"Being part of a larger organisation will help us to be more efficient and more effective."
Earlier this month, environment secretary Hilary Benn claimed that the third sector, alongside the government, local communities and other network partners, can play a crucial role in tackling social exclusion.
