Newcastle council praised for supporting the vulnerable
Newcastle council’s Supporting People programme is providing an ever-improving service towards the city’s vulnerable people, it has been suggested.
In an independent report released by the Audit Commission, the public sector body received a ‘good’ two star-rating with "promising prospects" for future development.
The local authority was shown to be making positive moves in helping people to be supported within their own homes and displaying commitment among all network partners, news that could well be welcomed by those seeking social work jobs or other employment with the public sector.
Alison Brown, senior manager for the commission, said: "The programme in Newcastle is well managed and is delivering an improving range of services to those in need of support.
"The council has robustly reviewed services to ensure they meet quality standards and provide relevant housing-related support services to those who need them."
Earlier this week, the Audit Commission rated Bolsover district council’s comprehensive performance assessment as "excellent".
