Tameside council delivering “significant improvements” for vulnerable people
Tameside council’s Supporting People programme has "excellent" prospects in helping some of the most vulnerable members of society, it has been claimed.
In an independent report published by the Audit Commission, the local authority’s £7.2 million public sector policy was declared as helping to aid the most at risk people improve the quality of their live and gain greater independence.
Alongside the commission, network partners from Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Probation and Commission for Social Care Inspection rated the council’s programme three stars - the highest-possible rating.
Paul Clarke, lead housing inspector at the Audit Commission, claimed that the report serves as proof as to how network partners can work together effectively to help vulnerable members of society, news which be of interest to those seeking social work jobs in the region.
He said: "Tameside is demonstrating how effective partnership working can deliver significant improvements in the lives and choices available to some of the borough’s most vulnerable people.
"It is delivering housing related support services in the innovative way intended by the government when it introduced the Supporting People programme."
Earlier this year, an investigation by the Audit Commission rated Wigan council’s Supporting People programme as having "promising" prospects for improvement.
