Vulnerable people’s fund ‘performing well’
A fund intended to help vulnerable people in Liverpool to live independently is performing well with excellent prospects for improvement, it has been claimed.
In news that may be of interest to people in talent pools for social work jobs, Liverpool city council’s work has been applauded by the Audit Commission.
The £41.9 million Supporting People programme received a "fair" rating from the commission, which suggested that in recent months it had changed direction and had demonstrated a strong rate of improvement over the last nine months.
Paul Clarke, Audit Commission lead housing inspector for the north-west, said: "We found a number of positive aspects in the way the programme is being delivered and efforts have been made to develop a sound foundation which we are confident will lead to further improvements in the programme."
In other news from the Audit Commission released this week, the London Borough of Hillingdon’s cultural services were judged to be fair with promising prospects.
