MP selected for land use policy development

Posted in Planning on the September 6th, 2007

The member of parliament for Truro and St Austell has been selected to assist in developing policy on the application for land use planning, Communities and Local Government reports.

The prime minister has stated that Matthew Taylor will advise the minister of state for housing and the secretary of state for the environment on planning within the context of rural environmental protection.

In news likely to be of interest to those seeking planning jobs through e-recruitment or regional recruitment portals, Mr Taylor is set to help determine policy on the provision of land facilitating greater economic and social sustainability.

As part of the role he will be responsible for considering issues around the identification and release of appropriate land for development and affordable housing provision, as well as investigating the potential for increasing the availability of spaces in which to live and work in rural communities.

In recent weeks, Communities and Local Government announced that it has submitted an application to the European Union Solidarity Fund for monetary support following flooding affecting much of the UK.
