Couples tying the knot in the capital will be able to give to charities thanks to a new online service from not-for-profit company Give It.

The London Wedding List will make it possible for couples to specify a list of charities which they would like their wedding guests to donate to instead of shelling out on presents.

A variety of charities are on the list, including St Mungo’s, Shooting Star Children’s Hospice and the London Wildlife Trust.

The scheme follows on from the success of Give It’s The Scottish Wedding List, which showed that couples and their wedding guests were keen to support local charities, according to the company director Andy Hickey.

Mr Hickey said: "We’ve got a great line-up of [London] charities already, with a few more still to go live.

"We’ll be looking to add more throughout the coming months to provide couples and guests with even more choice," he added.
