Third sector leaders to form European network
Some of the leading players in the European third sector met last week in Paris to launch a new European network.
The European network of third sector leaders (Euclid) was formed by over 100 third sector leaders from 19 European countries in an attempt to promote integration, innovation and effectiveness, reports the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations.
It is hoped that the organisation will be able to help develop the sector’s leaders through a range of events and courses with the intention of ensuring that European institutions help the people.
Ed Miliband, the UK’s minister for the third sector, commented: "Every day, for different causes and in different countries, the third sector shows the power of working together.
"By connecting diverse groups across Europe, to share lessons and find common cause, Euclid embodies this insight and I wish it every success."
Dame Mary Marsh, the chief executive of the NSPCC and Sir Nick Young, the head of the British Red Cross, are among the founding members.
