Charity to extol volunteering benefits

Posted in Charity/Voluntary on the January 3rd, 2007

National charity Volunteering England (VE) has announced its decision to participate in a major exposition this March, in order to propagate the spiritual benefits of charity work.

VE will highlight the ways in which volunteer work can change people’s lives at the lifestyle show One Life Live, due to be held in London’s Olympia from March 2nd until March 4th, with information and advice about giving time to good causes.

A survey of visitors at the corresponding event in 2006 revealed that over half were keen to “give something back” to society through volunteering.

“We know from our experience that volunteering is truly life-enhancing and it very exciting that we will be helping a whole new audience to discover the benefits,” commented Jane Heath, assistant director of outreach services at VE.

“I would encourage all those who are considering volunteering and who want both information and inspiration … to come to the ‘life balance zone’ at One Life Live and find out for themselves,” she added.

One Life Live co-found Helen Marriott described herself as “delighted” with VE’s decision.

“More and more people are recognising the need to do something more constructive with their life and volunteering is an excellent way to make that difference,” she said.
