JobsDoncaster.co.uk launched

Posted in PR on the March 6th, 2006

Finding your ideal job in South Yorkshire will soon be a whole lot easier thanks to JobsDoncaster.co.uk, an innovative web based jobs portal created for Doncaster Council by on-line recruitment experts, Jobsgopublic (JGP).

The portal was launched today by the Mayor of Doncaster, Martin Winter, who said: “Doncaster is thriving. It has seen huge investment which means more jobs, and more challenges in recruiting. This website will make it easier for us to recruit people to the jobs we have available and will also make it easier for the people looking for jobs”.

In addition to job adverts the site has many inbuilt help facilities aimed at getting people back into work such as tips on how to fill out application forms, information on benefits and links to other job providers, such as JobcentrePlus.

Richard Tyrie, Co-Founder of JGP said: “E-recruitment is the future. JobsDoncaster.co.uk will make uninspiring adverts a thing of the past, giving you instead a blank canvas on which to sell the public sector. Talent can be pooled between organisations so that talented but unsuccessful candidates can be picked up within the sector and not lost.

“This is a fantastic piece of technology that will greatly benefit the public sector in South Yorkshire”.

The portal is the second of its kind. The first SurreyJobs, also created by JGP has received significant national attention and praise even being cited as an example of best practice in the Government’s Pay and Workforce Strategy. JGP are now looking to develop similar portals in London, Cornwall, North Yorkshire, Leicestershire and Lancashire.

Note to Editors:

  • JGP has been working with the public sector and not-for profit organisations helping them reach out to wider and more diverse sources of jobseekers since 1998.
  • The fourth generation JGP network attracts more than ½ million jobseekers a month and listed more than 60,000 vacancies last year – twice the number carried by The Guardian. 46% per cent of local authorities in England have subscribed to JGP’s online services.
  • JGP has evolved from its beginnings as a “jobs board” and now provides Talent On Demand software and services that help organisations identify, source, manage, appoint, train, develop and promote talented people.
  • JGP services are delivered in the spirit of collaboration and support public sector agendas: promoting diversity; social inclusion; enabling citizen-centric self-service; Data Protection Act; DDA and web accessibility obligations; e-government principles and e-GIF requirements. Its platform enables organisations to operate faster, more transparently and much more affordably.
